Audi R8 Clubsport Coming Soon

Much has been said about Audi’s sports car, the R8. Right from the beginning of the year, there were rumors about a cabriolet and an electric version. Both of these were unveiled last week at the motor show in Frankfurt. It seems that the German firm has more versions coming up.

British Web site Autocar reports that Audi could be working on a R8 Clubsport version. Spy images of this hardcore version of the sports car have emerged. Besides small aero blades at the front and a fixed rear wing, they also point to an expansively modified bodywork at the rear. It, apparently, will have a stripped-out cabin as well as lighter and more dynamic rear-wheel drive setup
The Audi R8 Clubsport is expected to be powered by a 518bhp R8 V10. As for the top speed, it apparently is 200mph and does 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds. There is no word on the release date but the car is expected to be out by Q1 2010. There are speculations that it would be unveiled in November this year at the Essen Motor Show in Germany.
